Yakov began his musical education in early childhood. He graduated from the Feodor Chaliapin Children’s Music School in Moscow, then studied at the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov College of Arts in Pskov and continued his studies in the Music Department of the University of Nicosia, Cyprus.
Throughout his professional career, Yakov has performed in symphony, chamber, wind and folk orchestras, percussion ensembles, quartets, quintets and other chamber formations. He has worked both as an orchestral musician and as an orchestral soloist, participating in competitions, concerts and stage programmes.
Alongside academic music, he has performed in a wide range of contemporary styles including punk rock, rock, blues rock, jazz and cover projects, as well as jazz quartets and mixed-genre ensembles. This diverse experience has shaped flexible musical thinking and strong ensemble skills.
Yakov specialises in drums and percussion, is proficient in a wide range of performance techniques and continues his professional development in jazz, rhythm and improvisation.
In his classes, he helps students master drumming technique while also developing rhythm, musicality, confidence and ensemble skills. His lessons are suitable both for beginners and for musicians who want to take their playing to the next level.
